I received this Flickr message the other day.

Dear howsentimental,

I came across your photos called “Neighbours” and “Lions on Broadway” on Flickr.com. I found them very interesting and I would like to use them for educational purposes in a book I’m currently editing for my company _______ __________ in Argentina.

These photos would be appropriate as supporting graphical material for an interior page dealing with musicals and concerts. It would be included in a book for secondary school students learning English as a foreign language in Argentina. More specifically, your photos would be included in a musical marquees mosaic.

Again, the use of your photos would be strictly educational and I will give you full credits for your contribution.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could reply my request and tell me how you'd like to appear in the "Acknowledgements" page. Of course, I would be happy to send you an electronic or hard copy of the book once it is published and a written recognition/recommendation for you as photographer.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm very happy about this. Yes, the photos are snapshots I took on my trip to NY, but if they're of use to someone then that's great. And hey, publishing is publishing! :)
